The ISS Story
The International Student Society of ATU Galway was born from a simple, yet profound need – to create a warm, welcoming space that felt like a second home for students far from their own. In the autumn of 2022, a handful of students—Jorge, Gabriella, Ayushi, Manya, and Ashley—planted the seeds of what would quickly flourish into the largest and most active society within the university.
Motivated by the desire to elevate the international student experience, they envisioned a society that would act as both a sanctuary and a hub of vibrant activity. As word spread and membership soared, the society’s calendar became a tapestry of events, each crafted to enhance, educate, and entertain.
From the laughter-filled nights of cultural celebrations to the quiet moments of guidance on life in Ireland, each event is a testament to the society’s dedication. The ISS has become synonymous with diversity and support, growing into a thriving community where every member contributes to its rich, ongoing narrative.
